People ask for custom scoring, and it's a fair question. In a regular fantasy league, scoring settings are one of the biggest calls a commissioner makes.
They matter there because of the draft. Scoring is what decides who's worth taking early. A point per reception is what turns a pass-catching running back into a first-round pick, and drops a back who never catches a ball down the board.
We don't have a draft. Nobody owns any players, and everyone picks from the same player pool every week. So if we changed the scoring, everyone would just change their picks the same way at the same time. The numbers would look different. The game would play out exactly the same.
The strategy at PlayoffBlitz is entirely different. You only get to start each player once all season. It isn't about who you own. It's about who you have left.
Eight starters every week, and once you have started a player he is gone for the rest of the season. Use him, lose him, also known as one and done.
1 quarterback, 2 running backs, 2 wide receivers, 1 tight end, 1 kicker and 1 defense/special teams unit.
Scores update in real time. Watch your score increase as you overtake your nearest opponents.
Weekly scores accumulate throughout the season. The member with the highest point total after the final week wins the championship.
Full detail on lineups and deadlines is on the rules page.
Yes. PlayoffBlitz uses standard PPR scoring, so every reception is worth 1 point on its own, on top of the yards gained.
Six, for every kind of touchdown. Passing, rushing, receiving, a kick or punt returned for a score, and an interception or fumble returned by the defense are all worth 6 points.
No, and it matters far less on PlayoffBlitz than it would in a draft league. Scoring settings shape a draft by deciding what a player is worth before anyone picks him, which is why a point per reception turns a pass-catching running back into an early-round pick. PlayoffBlitz has no draft and nobody owns any players, so every member picks from the same player pool every week, and different scoring values would just change everyone's picks the same way at the same time. The strategy comes from the use-once rule instead: each player can be used only once all season, the format known as one and done.
Your defense scores 6 for any touchdown it returns, 2 for a safety, 2 for an interception, 2 for a fumble recovery and 1 for a sack. Kick and punt returns taken to the end zone are worth 6.
Eight: 1 quarterback, 2 running backs, 2 wide receivers, 1 tight end, 1 kicker and 1 defense/special teams unit. All eight score on standard PPR.
